Finished for your review is a 66" nock to nock osage recurve, pulling about 56# @ 28" I started it last fall and it sat all winter till I finally got out in the garage without the my snot freezing and finished it up. I backed it with a black silk that has some red swirls in it, not because it needed protection but for looks.

Very nice. The bow looks like it is bending great. Beautiful detail work with the backing, handle and tips. Really good work.

Very nice recurve VB. Cool bow!
-
Very sharp looking. What did you use to apply the black silk so that it stayed black? I'm making a cherry with black silk.
-
Really nice recurve!

That bow is really nice. What exactly is that on the handle? It sure looks cool. Do you have any closeups of the tips?
-
Very, Very nice Recurve. I am partial to wooden recurves, myself. Looks as if you've set back the handle a bit. Great job on that bow!
-
Thanks everyone, I'll get a closeup on the tips when I get home from work, the handle is a combination of red crochet thread wrapped and then soaked in tite bond II, then coated with tru-oil, the black part of the handle is the natural wood painted with black walmart acrylic craft paint then coated with tru-oil. I finished the bow so I could take it to the classic in a few weeks. The tips are painted with the black paint also as are the string grooves on the belly. The silk is held on with tite bond II also.

Here are pictures of the tips and handle

-
Really a nice lookin bow. Well done.

That's one awesome looking bow Mark! Love the detail work :).
-
beautiful bow, something about recurves just really draws me it. Did you steam those tips? i have a shoter hunk of hickory id like to make a recurve out of, ive heard alot of people using heat guns though, just curious. again, great work man. -jimmy
-
The recurves were done with a heat gun, I don't use steam much.

-
Really nice job on your bow...I especially like the tips! :)
-
I don't know how I've managed to miss this one ???
Great looking bow! I like thie tips too. Did you cut through the back ring when you shaped the tips? I've always felt like it wouldn't hurt anything since there's not much leverage out there anyway.
-
awesome bow VB hope I get to see it up close and in person.
-
Lovely bow and work that recurve is perfect.
