Title: Propeller twist in stave

I'm currently working on a yew stave that has h bad knot within 8 inches of the tip of the stave, I can work round the knot ok, but the last 8 inch above the knot has a distinct twist, meaning that I'm struggling to get a single growth ring on the back of the bow at this point.

First -  is it necessary to have a single growth ring at this point of the bow, as the tips don't do too much work

Secondly - is it possible through cunning placement of the nocking slots to help "pull" the twist out ?

  Chris you can correct some of the string alignment with nock placement or you can steam and bend the twist out. I have never chased a ring on yew, just left a little sapwood on and didn't chase a ring in it either. I just made the sapwood equal thickness the length of the bow.

As far as chasing a ring on yew sapwood... I only do it on heavy bows. I've not had any problems with bows <60#.
