It has been a while since i got on the old war horse and let some arrows fly... Kenneth (little john) inspired me with his medicine hat paint and snakey bow mounted archery pics.. So I saddled the old boy up and let some arrows fly.. ::) Surprisingly he still knee reigned like a champ, and I still hit the mark while galloping by... have a long way to go before I would try this for a living but sure is a good way to keep me and my horses in shape.. hope you all enjoy...lets see some of everybody else shooting in different ways.. Nice work Mike, awsome pics and beautiful animal. Stacy sure does a good job at catching the arrow in flight. I don't know if I ever inspired any one before, but glad you got out and let some fly. I have another horse I have shot off of and neither have minded it at all, so I encourage any one with access to a good broke horses to give it a try. Actually I hit better than I ever would of thought so it is not as hard as you might think. The hard part for me is to try and get three arrows off on one pass at the target. Again Mike cool photos and good shooting. kenneth

Very Nice!

Three :o arrows :o my horse is too fast, or i am too slow... I can only get two one in the target.. and one wherever it ends up ;D ;) Thanks Kenneth for your kind words.. Hawk ... Mullet.. you should try chasing those pigs on horseback and shooting with your bows.. Hawk

Thanks brothers.. Marc.. that is the bow you built me.. I added snake skins to her..I hope to get a buffalo from horseback someday.. Lloyd.. I have just the horse for you brother, His name is Abracksus ... He is one of my new mustangs.. and boy can he buck... hasn't thrown me yet but I am sure it will happen soon enough ;D

Mike, I had a friend that chased hogs on horseback and roped a hind leg to catch them.
-
I think my horse would be great at chasing buffalo, he is one fast bugger.. even at nineteen years old he can outrun all the younger mustangs..with ease.. just don't know if i could make the shot at those speeds... :o ;) Hawk

Just get close. I guess also the Native Americans also liked the young. Tender, easier to kill, less chance of being killed yourself, softer skins. kenneth

yeah its great what he is doing to keep the lakota traditions alive.
-
i just read hawk that the lakota way of shooting is when carrying the arrows in your bow hand the broadhead is always pointing up. . . pretty neat
-
very cool..I always have mine pointed down.. just goes to show you... give a white eye a bow and a horse... and he will do everything backwards ;D ;D ;)

Funny Hawk!!!

What happened,to your horses left front ?I notice a scar and a hairline deviation.Sorry, its what i do fer a livein.LOL

He was born with the crack in his hoof, his parents both were highly prized runners... so he was given to a friend of mine.. who was a ferrier.. years of hoof work paid off... I have ridden him an average of four hundred miles a year in the high country for years, he was left to me after my friend died of cancer.( Ima rio texas tiger) is his full name and he is a valuable and trusted friend to me.. Thanks for noticing the old injury.. takes a trained eye to notice.. he was also skinned from the knee down in a high country accident.. a greenhorn was leading him and he stepped through the lead rope.. the idiot had the rope tied off to the horn ... ripped and skinned him to the ankle.. I sewed him up right there and made a paste from old mans beard and willow bark... waited three days for the swelling to come down and walked him out of the mountains.. no proud flesh and you can't even see the wound anymore... that is why I always carry a small box of safety pins in my saddlebag.. works great for sewing horse hide in a hurry..
