This is my finally finished bamboo backed juniper bow. It pulls 30# at 20" draw. Ntn it is 45 1/2". It's 1" wide at the handle. ;D So what do you guys think of it? :)

Very nice. Your tiller looks spot on! 8)
-
Well thank you very much ;D I told you it'd work out haha :P
-
Congratulations, that is a real good job for a Boo backed juniper. It usually takes alot of set when using that combo, but your profile looks great. As Pat said, the tiller is spot on.
-
Now that's a shorty. Cool bow 8)
-
I told you it'd work out haha :P
Now Son....don't start getting all Puffy like a Cock Rooster.... ;)....This Bow is still New....give it a few hundred Shots....then come back and Ha Ha....... ;D
Juniper and Boo....just aren't a match made in Bowyer's Heaven....The Boo is like a Woman....forever pressuring the Man until He caves in to Her.........ohhh....did I get off on a Rant.......sorry......... >:D ::)
-
Great looking shorty !!
-
yeahh i guess we'll see ::)
-
i agree with mike ;)
nice analogy by the way mike ;D
-
I thought that the Analogy was quite appropriate myself...and I was a little Proud that I came up with such a witty one at that... ::)
As for the Bow ....Colton....I really love the Bow....these are my Favorite kinds of Primitive Bow....Native American Bows to Me are the only Bows I will spend my Time to reproduce...and You did an awesome Job of making a Modern/Primitive Bow... ;) And I really like the Backdrop you chose for your Full Draw Picture....a fitting Scenery for such a Bow
I wasn't trying to belittle you....I was only poking fun at Ya..... Maybe with such a light draw weight.....it will stay together for you....if it were Mine....Murphy's Law would have already claimed it...... :( ;D
-
yeah i noticed that early on so I decided i was going to have to go with a low weight.. but i hope it'll work out ;D
-
Colt don't let that big bad El Destructo guy rattle yer cage, he's all bark no bite ;) Besides I'm sure you can outrun the old guy :P
Ya did good in my book I like to see bows from unlikely types of woods and combinations put together
that the experts say don't work :) Besides the world would be mighty boring if all we had was yella wood eh :o :D
-
Got your nifty brush whitetail hunter all bookmarked for March Laminate Bow of the Month. Nice Job!
-
I'm going to post some more pictures with my new string silencers and my finished arrows (my first "real" set).
Do you think his oxygen tank might slow him down a bit? :P haha just kidding O:)

I have a Nitrous Oxide Tank....it dont just make you happy like at the Dentist....but it Boosts my Horsepower too!!!!!
-
Perty sweet looking set up there Colt!
-
Colton, You did a fine job on your bow, and you should be proud of it. I know this combination is not a popular one, but it eventually will once enough of that fine Utah Juniper gets spread around a bit.
I hope you try another one in a longbow style and a bit longer. I made one a couple years ago from Juniper near where you live and some local bamboo, and lets just say it performed beyond my wildest dreams...Scientific testing with witnesses included.. "Booniper" is the local name for these bows, and I'm real glad I have some pipe straight logs of the wood for future bows when I get a chance..
keep up the great work!
Rich
-
Thanks Rich :) I plan on trying a "booniper" long bow now :D I have a great stave just waiting for it. And plenty of boo so I'll have to try that.
Also thanks everyone :)
-
Looks great to me,cool shorty bow. :)
Pappy
-

You know what I was taught, if you kill it you gotta eat it ;). Actually here a lot of cactus does get eaten.. Looks like you are having fun Colton!
-
I'm not sure he could have missed with all the cactus there. I'd like to see him try to eat one of those things. :D
-
I did eat one! They are edible and you can eat the center. Its very cool and refreshing!
-
IS it prickly pear?Cool bow!! : ;)
-
colt,
i like the shorty bows... very cool looking bow you got there... and as for eating that kill....
my harratige eats those things all the time... we call them nopales.
what you do is get a sharp knife and shave off all the thorns..and scrap the skin just a bit
then slice them into long strips like green beens and then they get real slimmy so you wash them off real good and then boil water with a bit of salt, and then when water is boiling, you through them in and boil for ten minnets...
then you get some meat some ground or thin steak meat and brown the meat with some oil and then make gravy with water and flour and add the water and flour to the browned steak and then once you got that like a stew you add the nopelas (thin cut cactus) and simmer... little sliced oninons and some garlic and maybe a little hotsuace for the kicker.. and some corn tortilla's and maybe some rachstyle beans and your good to go!!! ;) :D :D ;D
damn now im hungry..!! :D
-
G22....thats enough!!! I love Nopales in my Burritos...they sell Prickly Pear in all of the Grocery Store Chains here....along with Chichirones....Tripas.....Frijoles Refritos.....Queso Asadero.......Queso Blanco........damn....now I am Hungry and can't sleep!!!!!!!
