Title: Boo backing, Solvent for glue?
Post by: Colt45 on March 15, 2009, 04:01:54 pm
I just glued my bamboo backing onto my juniper and now I realized that I did not have enough clamps and this isn't going to work  8) Can I soak it in water or something to get the glue off so I can save these pieces? Thanks!

What glue did you use?  If Tite-Bond glue, you can heat the bow up to 150deg(F) and the glue will release. If Urac, you are stuck( ::) ) with it.
I wouldn't think that juniper would be strong enough in compression for a boo backing.

If you clue the backing on again use strips of inner tubes and wrap them tightly around the the bow starting from the grip to the tips.

overlap the inner tube as you wrap also

how perfect does this have to be? I mean if there is like 1/32" glue filled gap in spots is that alright? 1/16"?
