I was wondering if I could get some opions on red elm as a bow wood, could also get some black locust as well but heard it was likely to be more prone to compression fractures, any opions welcome,Dave.

Red Elm is good Bow Wood...I have had no trouble with any Elm I have used....and Black Locust will not Frett if it is designed and tillered correctly either....you just have to take it slow and do a good Job on the Tiller...no Hinges or stressed spots at all...

Elm is awesome bow wood... very strong in tension, so it also excels as a backing wood.
