Nice Points Patrick....I wish I was talented in this Category too....All I do is make Rock Chips....and cut Hands and Fingers!!
-
Thanks Destructo. Notice how there is very little notching? That's because I usually end up with notched rock chips. ;D If I can get the arrowhead thin enough (not very often), I can notch it.
-
Notched or not, they look fine to me.

You've come a long way in a short time Pat - them look good! Wish we'd had more time to tinker :).

These points were given to me by J. B. Sollberger many years ago. He passed away from emphysema and silicosis. To my knowledge, he was the first flint knapper to teach at universities in both the US and Europe. Watcher
The other picture(1005 with the black and orange) is of a couple small knives and points I found in my display case! The longer one is made from moss agate I found on the ranch I used to live on! Watcher

Gawd!!! :o ;D.
-
Holy Crap! If i tried to make a knife like that it would be in enough pieces to make a few dozen arrowheads ;D ;) thanks for sharing Hawk a/ho
-
Wolfwatcher, those are some really nice points, great work. And those Solberger points are awesome, definitely a piece of history there. Didn't he invent or re-invent the fluting jig as we know it?
-
Hillbilly: Solly, as he was called, did make a fluting jig and I have one somewhere packed away, but have never used it. We became long distance friends in the late 50s and early 60s. I sent him elk and deer horns, some obsidian and he sent me a collection of his work and some Texas flint. He also was one of the first to heat treat some of that tough Texas flint. He was a scholar about his work and I have several pages of his notes. He was an inspiration for me. Watcher
-
Solberger, that guys is a legend.. I'd feel very honerd to own one of his points.. Thats something special you have there.
the other points are nice to.
-
This is a Pre-form i have rdy to make into a fine pinetree, i am not very experienced making pinetrees.. so i thought I'd post some photos before i mess it up.
