Title: buying staves

not having access to a place to cut my own tree i have considered buying a stave over the internet. safe? unsafe? don't really ant to spend a fortune

Just like anything else, there are good ones and bad ones out there. You might be able to trade someone out of a good stave on the trade blanket forum here. We don't allow outright buying and selling, but most people are willing to trade for a variety of stuff. You can also check out the PA classified ads section at the bottom of the page.

I've had very good luck buying staves off the internet... both yew and osage. Like Hillbilly said, try the trading post... I've had very good results there also. Like yourself, I live in a bow wood desert, so I have to buy or trade for most of my wood.

Id recommend the trading post here,I trust the stave judgement of the guys of PA over the internet anyday.
