Title: Another Spine and Tonkin Question.
Post by: ricktrojanowski on November 30, 2008, 09:37:18 pm
I keep hearing that boo shafting is less spine sensitive than wooden shafting.  The arrows that I am working on are for a 53# longbow at 26" draw.  The bow has no cutout and the string falls right down the center of the handle.  How broad of a spine range should I be looking for?  I have 7 shafts straightend, weighed and spined.  The weights are all about equal at around 300+/- gr. The spines range from 45-55# and one is around 70#.  Thanks for any input.

how much distance is there from the center of the handle to the strike plate, for every half inch you want 5# less in spine of your arras.

the cane arrows i've made i didn't even spine. all work fine at 35 yards

David - I'll make them about 28" with a 145gr tip
Zander-  About 5/8''.  I'll have to measure to get a more accurate number.

Rick you can always leave them longer and shorten as need to fine tune them, heck I have a short draw and
most of my arra's are at least 31" makes for a heavier hunting arra
