Title: Bow for a friend
Post by: mole on November 29, 2008, 09:53:20 pm
Pat said on the phone that I had to post this bow, so here goes.  This is the first bow I've posted here too!  Red oak board pyramid bow.  61" 50# @ 26".  Slightly under 1 1/2 of string follow.  The last five inches of each tip was narrowed and left thicker.  I presented the bow to my buddy a few hours ago at a fish fry he was hosting.  He was quite shocked, surprised, and happy to receive it.  I left it non sanded and with no finish so he could have a hand in crafting it.  Hopefully he'll be shooting it next weekend.

I forgot to take a braced picture---I hadn't made a string for it at picture taking time.

I adjusted the tiller a little from the last photo to get it to bend a little more at the fades.

nice job there 8)

i'l bet your bud likes it a lot.

question though,in the pic with it leaning against the door the lower limb looks alot shorter than the top limb or is it
an optical illusion caused by the angle the pic was taken.?

It's all in the angle of the picture.  The limbs are equal length.
