Jimmy, that cove stand is a good stand...I've had opportunities there but have never been fruitful yet. See you Fri. or Sat. and a happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

Watcher, I was using a Magnus 145 grain point on cane arrows. I think next year I'm going to try some 160 grain Ace heads. Look forward to meeting you!

Thanks Tracy, I like the cane arrows although they take some time to make. BigA and I bought some Tonkin cane for next year.

I appreciate it Frank, Happy Thanksgiving to all!  :)

Thanks John, I'm getting ready to butcher both of them today...

and once again, congratulations.  doesn't seem to matter much, what bow you use, you're an excellent hunter and marksman.

Nice deer Greg, always love to here the stories, so I know what stand to hunt next year. You guys will have to show me how to do those cane arrows. some how I missed the "How to make" class at the Classic this year.

I hunted the same stand Greg killed the 8 ptr in this past week and saw another 8 ptr that was a very large deer.  I wasn't able to get over this weekend due to family in town so I'm anxious to hear that weekend's story.

Thank you!

Kenneth, the main thing is to get out there amongst them! Having a good healthy deer population helps as well.

Marius, Pappy makes the hunting part of it fairly easy because we're hunting out of stands that he has located on good travel area's over years of his experience hunting the farm.  A little luck helps on the shooting part of the equation. ;)

Dan, we've been keeping the best stand site a secret...it's the telephone pole next to the cabin, but don't tell nobody! We'll save it for you! ;D

Jimmy, mostly scrapping on bows due to the rain. Saturday morning before we got rained out I saw a doe, and Shannon saw a small 8 point...both out of range.

Jesse, it was the "oaks stand" directly behind the cabin, and yes it is on top of a ridge and near the property line. Several large oaks are around the stand and you can see the field of a neighboring farm about 100 yards to your right. :)

The deer must have sensed danger when you were hunting there and stayed out of sight! The only thing that buck had on his mind was chasing does...that and possibly some Tink's 69 on my boots for the walk to the stand, and a little luck helps.

I missed a much nicer 8-point out of that same stand a couple of years ago.
