Hi guys, was wondering if anyone had tried using that thin timber veneer that cabinet makers use for a backing? Would it work? Also , what about a thin layer of plywood ? Would appreciate any advice with this

The veneer would look good but unless the veneer was a single growth ring no matter the species, it wouldn't do much good. I won't even comment on the plywood idea

In one of my bow building books(I can't remember which) they talked about using hickory or maple veneer tape as backings. I think they used 2 layers. Pat
