Papa, when Ryan gave it to me it had been cut for several years. But unless kept in a controlled environment or somewhere with a low relative humidity most wood won't go below 10-11% MC.
I checked it with a moisture meter (I work for a Hardwood Lumber Co. and have lots of good equipment on hand

)and it was 11.2%. I dried it down 3.5% and tillered it out. Saw Filer

That is one fine looking bow Shannon. Those skins look great and I really like the tips. Tiller looks great too.

Very nice job as I have already said,but I would have thought 3.5 would have been way to low for Osage.If fact I would have thought that would be to dry for Even Hickory.

Oh no Pappy! I didn't dry it to 3.5%. I dropped it 3.5% from 11.2. Which left it about 7.7%. Hope that clears things up. I wouldn't want anybody to try that, that would be good for several little yellow toothpicks! Saw Filer
