How would you deal with this side knot?

...or maybe just make this one into firewood, quit kidding myself, and leave juniper to the ancient Native Americans, or at least to those in a region with straighter juniper available.

I’m having a hard time figuring out what exactly I’m looking at.  On that last pic….what is that pencil line?  I’m assuming I’m looking at the side of the bow, as the knot is in the side/edge.  Is the back to the left or right in that last pic?

Yes, in the last picture you're looking at the side.  The back is to the left, belly to the right.  The pencil line is approximately where I would probably cut if I were to just remove the knot entirely.

... "Dutchmans". Drill / ream the knot out and plug with a clean section of fresh wood. Use a bow makers epoxy, or something like urea formaldehyde/or resorcinol glue.

That is how I would go. Use same sort of DRY wood!

I would probably take it out if it looks like their will be a chance enough wood would be left, same way I deal with side check, take them out and then see what is left, then lay out the bow. If not enough left , cook brats with it, I don't usually wast a lot of time until I see what I have got to work with.
