Dave, how’s it shooting?  Would you say it’s worth going out and losing a pint of blood over?  I have my eye on a couple that might be OK, but I’m dreading the pain and suffering involved in cutting one down!

I’m not too sure you’ll ever find a high ring count Russian, as even in drought years in this dry climate, they reach deep and suck water.  Deer love their cover and seem To love eating their leaves, but the ranchers around here will knock them over (for the most part) due to just how much water they consume…and I beg them (places I hunt) not to!  Anyhoo, they grow super fast here, and it’s about as dry as it gets, so I’m thinking a high/dense growth ring Russian log would be rarer than a snake with tits.

That bow is certainly making me want to try to find a good stave though.  Might be a great candidate for a fairly wide 35-40 lb bow for rabbit hunting.  Anyhoo, keep us posted on how it’s holding up/set/speeds etc as you continue to shoot it.
