Can anyone ID this plant?
« on: November 19, 2023, 04:57:27 pm »
This plant showed up in the terrestrial part of my frog/fish paludarium.  I'm pretty sure it came in with some wild mosses I brought back from Michigan last summer.  Anybody know what it is?

By the way, the long stems growing through it are rice plants.  And the little thing that looks like a frog?  That's a frog.   ;D

Sorry but I can't help you with the plant but I have an app on my iPhone called "Seek" to help ID plants and it's free. Works pretty good too.

May be some sort of indian lettuce or miner's lettuce: Montia perfoliata or Claytonia perfoliata
but the leafs look like ground ivy: Glechoma hederacea.

Did you know the colour of the flowers?

Well, after doing some looking and consulting some other plant lovers, I'm pretty sure it's bittercress, probably wavy (Cardamine flexuosa) or cuckoo flower (c. pratensis).  Might have to let it grow a bit and try some on a roast beef sandwich.  Pretty little plant!  Too bad it's a noxious weed.

I’m just looking at my phone, but I’m thinking it might be wild geraniums. They are a weed here.
