I hope he enjoys his BJ bow, its a nice one.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

Thanks guys.

He was totally thrilled with it and thanked me over and over again for making it for him. I really do hope it works out for him.

I’m thinking I’m down to putting several coats of tru-oil on and coming up with a name. Have a couple ideas but haven’t quite had the perfect name come to me yet. I’m sure it will though.

I really did enjoy making this one. Everything about it was a pleasure.

I’m thinking about the name “Jogah” if I understand correctly it is Iroquois for drum dancers. Little people who live in the area of the Great Lakes.

I’m pretty illiterate when it comes to this stuff but if that’s right I kinda like the name.

If anyone has knowledge of this I would love to hear it.

Yes the more research I do the more it looks like jogah (jo-ga-ho) is the perfect name for this bow.

Iroquois for drum dancers a small mostly invisible spirt who lives by the stony creeks and caves. They are sometimes seen by respectful people, especially medicine men and elders. They love children and take care of them if they are alone. They take care of the plants and are responsible for their yield. They helped respectful Iroquois farmers. They were very strong and came out at night to control the snakes and underground demons. They left small pots where offerings of tobacco and fingernails could be left.

I think it is jo-ga-ho

My little person friend lives beside a stony Creek

Very cool bow with some character. Super nice gesture. I’m sure he will love it, even if it’s just for the fact you made it for him. You are a very good friend.

Thank You George. It certainly did my heart good to do this one. I think I got more out of it than I gave. I started on an arrow last night. I can’t wait to see him shoot it again. I think he might have been a little disappointed when I text him I took another 5 lbs off. He said it was just right, but I’m really hoping it allows him to shoot easier and maybe even without his unique form. I’m sure he is thinking it won’t have enough cast, but I think with the right arrows he is going to be really surprised. Let’s hope so anyway.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments.

Working on an arrow.

As I said before 3/4 of the secret to making a really fun to shoot little bow is the arrow.

I’ve made quite a few but I think this is one of my favorites so far.

I started out with the skinny end of the skinniest River cane shaft I had. I straightened it with heat and wrapped both ends with sinew to keep them from splitting.

Then I screwed in this torques screw. Then I bare shaft tested it drawing the bow it’s for to the owners 16” draw. It flew straight right off the bat. That’s great. If it had flown sideways I would’ve had to either add or subtract point weight.

This screw with the head on would probably make a cool bunny buster.

I’m kind going for the cool factor though and these screws allow me to do something that I normally couldn’t with my other arrows.

I decided why not interchangeable points.

So I made a tiny broad head.

PS decent FOC. Not a lot but a little bit.

Then I took one of the screws to the torch and heated and forged out a flat point drawing the tip out as much as I could.

Then I shaped the point and sharpened it on my grinder.

And there you have it. The cool factor and still interchangeable with the bunny buster or more child safety oriented.

That's a really neat idea with the little broadhead.  That would be mean on a squirrel :)
