Ship snakeskins to UK?

Does anybody know if it’s legal to ship a bow with animal parts such as snakeskin backing or antler tips from the US to the UK?
Also, what’s the best way to ship?

You would have to check with UK Customs.

No problem if it is on a finished bow. just snake skin on its own is the problem. I've always wanted to back a bow with a snake skin but just can't get hold of them....

Someone sent me a pair of skins folded flat between a few sheets of paper as "documents" or "certificates" (can't remember which)... bypassing the rules.
Of course I couldn't possibly recommend such actions

you may check if the animals the parts belongs are not listed in the CITES lists
I guess if they are not listed you can export freely but please double check that

Sometimes you can bypass some restrictions by stating the contents are "craft" supplies

The only bow I shipped to Europe was to Italy, I checked other countries and found they all prohibited the import of skins of any kind, it didn't matter if it was on a bow or not.

The buyer suggested I listed the package as "used sporting goods archery" to escape a huge import tax of twice the cost of the bow. The bow was backed with western diamond back skins.

The buyer was willing to accept the fact if the package was opened for inspection the bow would be confiscated and he would loose his money.

It took about a month for the bow to get there but it arrived unopened and in fine shape. At the time shipping was only $35.

Take 6 months to a year now.  Had a rifle in mail over 70 days from OR to Tenn. thought it was long gone and one day it leaning up on porch.

 Rattlesnakes are not on CITES list when I last looked. Some countries have bio hazard rules to stop untanned skins from entering the country.
UK should have an imports/customs/borderforce website, that tells you what you can or can't import, and whether you need special permits or quarantine treatments.

Here’s what FedX says regarding shipping restrictions to the UK:

Hides, skins and apparel from the following animals: Castor Canadensis, Lutra Canadensis, Canis Iatrans, Canis lupus, lynx Canadensis, Felis rufus, martes zibellina, Procyon lotor, Ondatra zibethicus, Martes pennant, Taxidea taxus, Martes Americana and Mustela ermine are prohibited from certain countries.
