I think the string angle when braced depends more on how the bow bends to reach brace than where the reflex is when unbraced.

When you reflex right out of the handle it gives you higher string angles when braced and even drawn robbing some power.

So Steve reflex should achieve better performance the farther it is from the fades?  I was looking at my record bow the other day. It has a very slight reflex starting it about 8” from the fade then the last 8” it has about 2” reflex. My recent static is almost straight limbs till the last 6” where the static hooks start.

I think what he's referring to is that if the reflex is mostly at the fades/inner limb, you'd need a lot of movement in that area to get the same string angle as a straight bow and that's usually not possible without over straining that area.  Most of the time it ends up being more of a gull wing shape if the reflex is concentrated there with more bend in the the rest of the limb.
