double splinter on my fav bow..
« on: February 03, 2021, 03:48:30 pm »
heres my favorite bow... it Popped two splinters on this knot cluster, the first one popped up several months ago, and I glued it down and wrapped it with dogbane (before I had sinew) then while shooting it a while ago it made a little tick sound again. took the wrap off and there was another splinter going the other way from the last one!

so i have sinew to use... would sinew backing it keep it together?

i have the same problem with my bow... havent fixed it yet...

it looks like the ring was exposed on the top of that knot. i bet if you wrapped it with a material that it would stay together...

what part of the limb is it in,, a sinew wrap might hold but no guarentee as stated,,As Jawge always says,, leave those spots a little stiff next time,,sometimes I wrap a area Im worred about before the splineter happens,, that seems to work better than trying to fix it,,

Yeah so I was more talking about fully sinew backing the bow and not just a wrap? I should have left it stiffer there ...

some guys suggest smoothing down areas like that when sinew backing, so wait for them to chime in, maybe start another thread asking advice on how to proceed with sinew backing for that,,what kind of wood is it,,
