Did I overheat and damage my back?
« on: November 23, 2020, 03:53:45 pm »
Happy Thanksgiving week everyone. I am working on an osage bow and was doing some heat corrections to get the limb profile I want. I overheated one section moving the heat gun back and forth across the belly and sides, and I got some discoloration on the sides and back. Has anyone else made this mistake and had good or bad luck? Curious what to expect.

Thanks!

I’m thinking your probably ok. Especially that far out the limb. I do try to avoid that though. But I have tinted a few like that.

I thought you exercised too much and hurt your back. :)

Bow looks good.

It happens, no big deal but do let your bow to rehydrate for a few days before you do much tillering.

Haha well my back does hurt but it I can tell you with certainty that it isn't from exercising too much.

Thanks for the advice, I'm glad to hear it might not be as bad as I thought. I will continue on as planned. I still have to do corrections to the other limb and I move slow so it'll have plenty of time to rehydrate. Should be quick considering we've gotten about 9 inches of rain in the last week and might not see the sun again until the weekend.
