Heat & steam twisting
« on: May 12, 2020, 04:11:04 pm »
I have a stave I cut early in this journey that I've since learned is unlikely to make a bow but I decided to see how far I could take it anyway, for practice. It had a bad twist in one limb that didn't get any better as I began tillering so I figured, more practice for an "advanced" (for me!) technique. I heated it over a pan of water on the grill and Whaddaya know, it seems to have worked! So far... ::) My question is how long to wait before unclamping it? It's cool to the touch but should I leave it overnight to be safe?

I would keep it clamped over night just to be sure it is completely cooled inside and out.
