It might be hard to tell from the pictures. They do have a pithy or hollow center but do seem really strong.

Take this with a grain of salt, but I use an app called Picture This, which I really like. I snapped your last pic and it came back and said it was Creambush.

Yea I dont think thats what it is. I looked up cream bush and it said it's also known as ocean spray. Which doesnt grow around here. I'm not very technologically advanced. I actually have that app but it was wanting me to pay a monthly fee.

Looks like a spirea. Viburnum has opposite leaves(buds on stems also)

Looks to me like it would, straight shoot without side branches. Where do you live? This looks like a Japanese spirea but there are a couple of American versions. Cut some and bind it together to dry and give it a try.

Google spirea and see if you get a match. We have lots of the Japanese spirea here. It is quite invasive but I think it would make good arrows. I know the native spireas will make an arrow so the Japanese variety surely will.

The first two pictures look a lot like Ocean Spray but the flower head is definitely not. Is there a chance you snapped a pic of the wrong flower head?

Japanese spirea has pink flowers if you saw these in bloom and is quite invasive.
