Crosscut saw teeth pattern

Which teeth pattern is the best for a crosscut two-man saw? Is the lance teeth or M teeth superior to just plain teeth? If so, how much? I'm asking because I have only plain teeth saws in my area. The saw will be used for felling trees.

The M pattern works best for dry hardwoods and the Lance pattern works best for green softwoods. There is a free manual available on line from the US Forest Service that is very good at explaining all about saws including the sharpening and tuning. Hope this helps a little bit.
