My first recurve - elm selfbow

Hi guys!
Few weeks ago I finished my first recurve bow. I used dry heating to bend tips. In spite of ugly tranvensal crack which appeared due to my mistake I managed to finish that bow. Tillered to about 35lbs at 26". About 155 cm ntn. Stave had some natural deflex. I finished bow with dark green stain and applied a piece of crazy leather.
Making it was wonderful adventure!
Have a great day guys!

Congrats on your flip-tip mate! That looks like a tricky stave to have tillered too, with that woop in the top limb. Though, I do like a bow with some character!

I'd say you did real good for your first recurve. Looks great.

That's a kinky one. Nice job on the recurves. Did you notice it was harder to brace? I remember my first thinking it was hard to brace and must be heavy, then coming in lighter than I was intending.

PaSteve, upstatenybowyer, bjrogg, dGeorge Tsoukalas, SLIMBOB - Thank you guys. I'm really thankful for your kind words. Bjorgg - I think I overlooked that.
I like such challenging staves because they can teach us a lot. Every bow is a lesson to be learnt!

Cool! I love character bows too!
You did great on the tiller! Can see a lot of progress in your working skills!
Keep on!
Still curios about your flax backings. Would be great to get more Infos about your experiences.

Thank you Martin for your words. I appreciate it.
I know what I promised and I will share my knowledge about my backings. They are very time consuming and I'm still not fully convinced about their work and performance. Anyway I will do such a bow soon!
