More of a big wooden spoon really.  Had a big piece of apple-wood, bent at a big knot and heavily fractured where I had cleaved it and it had got stuck at the knot.. Spent a few hours with carving axe, gouges and a shinto rasp.  Fun little project.  The heli twist works well in making it all more comfortable to use. Its about 18" long, finish is sunflower oil.

I have a lot of people wanting me to make them a spoon from their property. Seems like everybody wants one from Apple. That is some hard wood to hand carve.

Very nice job!  Got dig some cherry out of the freezer to work this winter!  And finish up a couple of pieces that have been lurking in the garage, waiting!

Hawkdancer, explain wood in the freezer. 1st I have heard of that. I store my turkey feathers in the feather but not wood.

I picked that up from an article about making spoons, wrapped in plastic wrap keeps the moisture in the wood for carving when needed.  I keep some feathers in there, too, and a duck and a couple chukar so for training my dogs to retrieve.  Luckily, they haven't learned how to open the freezer!  (lol). There may be a couple of hides in there, too.
