I finished the knife and made a stand for it out of a couple deer antlers, then put it all in a box.
I looked how far it would be to just drive up there and deliver it myself. It was 4083 miles and 80 something hours driving one way. ??? I think I will just mail it. :)

Wow!

I'm not sure what to say except thank you!  My wife is right next to me and her words were "that's gorgeous."  I couldn't say it better.

If you ever do make the trip up, come in the first half of June.  And we can fire up the forge together!

If I ever come down there, I'm going to ask if you will be around so you can maybe show me something about knapping stone.  Seriously, I'd set aside a couple of days just for that and I'll bring the refreshments, even.

today I went and got yesterdays mail and found a wonderful knife made by Ed Brooks from a narrow chipper blade and a leather sheath.
Ed, I really like it. I sharpened it and it seems like very good steel and took a razor sharp edge.
Can't wait to use it on something.  Thanks
P.S. I really like the file work on it.

I got my knife from 1442 today.  It is even better in person than in the pictures he posted above.  I love it.

alright so looks like i'm last to finish again and late again  :-\
i really struggled to feel satisfied with this piece aesthetically.
it started out with a blued guard and a bright blade, but i couldn't bring myself to be happy with how it looked so i ended up oil blackening the guard and darkening the blade with vinegar.
still have some niggling issues i cant quite put my finger on, but i've reached that point that i need to call it done or i'll screw it up completely.
more pics once i finish a sheath for it.

I’ve been creeping around on this thread for awhile now. I’m liking what I’m seeing. Especially in terms of how well the communication is. way to go fellas. Great blades all around, I know I would be proud to own any one of them.
