Rock

Ok so I know that the question "where do I get rock?" Is probably met your ears way too much but I already know where to get it. At the Marshalls I bought a flintknapping kit with a bopper, pressure flaker, and abrading stone in it. It also came with a bag of flakes to work on. the guy taught me some basics and Ive already made two and I love it. My one concern is if I go at my hearts content I will run out of material. Back to my question, what do you look for in a rock to see if its knappable? or to see if its even worth your time?

Lots of videos on youtube already that give some good advice. In general, bring a hammer stone with you and tap a rock, if it makes a nice ringing sound, break off a piece and check it out. Smaller pieces that have a flake broken off are also worth picking up, you can never really be sure if a rock is any good until you bust open. Worse comes to worst, you can always buy or trade for rock.
