Fuming
« on: March 25, 2019, 11:39:09 am »
I fumed a Crabapple bow for a few days about three weeks ago. I'm staring to work it again and I notice a vinegar smell when I scrape it. Should I be letting it dry longer or is this normal?

If you stored it inside for those three weeks it will definately be dry. I let my fumed bows dry for the same amount of days they where in the fume pipe and have never had the idea one of them was still wet. Isn’t this the normal smell of crabapple?

I would leave it for some extra days, if you notice the specific smell when working on it.

In my first fumed bows I got too much set, because I wasn't patient enough
