Tree ID App or Book?

So Ive been trying to get some staves but IDiang them... no luck. I need some help. also, I cant always go here so ID a tree (even though I want to so are there books or apps that you suggest?

Audubon  tree book for your area or Peterson's Guild to trees for your area are 2 good sources. Also your local Cooperative Extension Service can be a big help.

You could try the Leafsnap app. I tried it out a while ago, it's super easy to use (just take a pic of the plant). Not sure how accurate it is, but it at least gives you a few suggestions. The biggest issue I found was it need data, so if you're out in the woods it won't work until you get back.

See your state DNR they no dought have a book of all tree and shrub in your area.
