how forgiving is yew?

Howdy, this pics are from a planed down yew - has some rings cut on the back. I will sinew it but wonder if I will be able to achieve pretiller/full brace without neckbreaking?

I wouldnt risk it,, thats just me,, I would put the sinew on before trying to brace it,, (f)

It's not exactly was I was hoping to read - you are discouraging me  O:) Maybe better only longstringig it a bit before sinewing. I'f I had tapered boo around it would be an easy job now and a good idea. Thank you. It's the first time I have planed down a stave.

the guys are giving hard earned advice,, if you gonna sinew it, at least put one layer of sinew on before you long string it,, if it was me and I was set on sinew,, I would get it even and put the sinew on,, then long string or brace,,

You could test it by floor tiller without damaging it. At least you could see the bend of each limb and compare weight between the 2 limbs.

pat, i'm already pretty sure about my calipered taper yet but it's still way too strong for sinewing yet. I have to remove wood anyway before sinewing and just tryin' to somehow optimize tiller before putting in some some additional reflex in the working limbs and sinewing  :BB

Tiller it by bending it backwards.  You're going to do that anyway if you sinew.  If it bends nicely backwards it will bend very close the opposite way when you brace it.
