I dried a small piece. It had a MC of 10-11% and the SG was 65%. That's consistent with the other times I've measured the SG of Doug Maple.
George I'm not sure what you mean by "not responding". If anything this was responding too much.

Badger, when you're taking the SG of a sample do you oven dry it?
