Persimmon and/or mesquite burl?
« on: October 23, 2018, 08:59:37 am »
Looking for a piece of persimmon and/or mesquite burl to make a couple of shop mallets. I'm thinking about 4"-6" diameter about 5"-6" long.  Hard maple would also work.  Got some exotic woods, oiser shafts(unworked), maybe some walnut knife scales, cherry lenths(wrapped and frozen), some flint, and obsidian(highly valued to me) >:D, maybe some forging steel(leaf springs, mower blades).

Not exactly what you're asked for, but I have a small cherry tree next to the dog kennel that I'm going to dispose of, it has a burl on it thats maybe 14-16" long and about 8-10" across.  If you might be interested I'll scoot out and take a couple pics.
I should know better.

Send pics, fresh cherry makes good carving wood if not hard enough for a mallet!  Makes nice spoons, and any other stuff!  Where are you?  I'm in Colorado.  PM me.
