Nice job on that buck!  Thanks osage outlaw for posting that.  That is encouragement right there. 

Morgan, Bj, GlisGlis, thanks for the additional encouragement. 

I really like the bow in the following post and would be hoping for something similar in profile.  With a little longer draw and not as heavy.  A fellow named Jbell made it about 10 years ago.

I wouldn't throw that out either.  Looks like a lot of work but I'm sure a hunting weight bow can be made out of that piece of wood

Those dark spots in the rings of the end grain look like bug bites to me.  I'd do a little investigative digging, before I put too much work into that stave.
