Thanks fellas. Those boys down in Tennessee at Twin Oaks make these all the time from what I've seen. Will H's bows come to mind here. There's going to be some string alignment issues I'd say with this one. We'll see.
I'm in no hurry to make it at the moment but will get to it though.I have other things going on here too.I would like to be sure it is completely dry before I start on it with a heat gun for fear of checking etc also.

I'll see if this will still post. It's been more tolerable working in the tractor shed lately here.I fooled with this stave a bit.Reduced and tapered it for the long string. Some tip alignment issues were addressed then too but more is needed I'm sure.Seen some bad wood I had to remove.Holes with punkish type wood in there. It's too bad it had to be right in the working portion of the limbs.Cut a strip off one side to remove it.It's that dark patch on the bow showing in the first picture of this post.Lucky I started wide enough and long enough.A  good rule to keep in mind for beginners starting to make bows.
Hopefully there's at least a 45 to 50 pound bow in there yet.If not the way it is I can still pike it a bit to gain a few pounds. It all depends on how well my limbs are balanced at brace after long stringing. That'll determine how much weight I'll need to take off to balance the limbs.

Cool that is a dandy.I like that one.Copperheads are a good combo.Single piece of wood or spliced handle?I've got others here too that are'nt getting shot as much as they should be.This one I'm working on has a nice balance on each limb with about the right degree of snake.Thought I'd try for a slight D/R design on this one to relieve the inner limbs some where most of the snakeyness is with the rest of the outer limbs pretty straight.Seems most osage has some degree of snake in 1 or both limbs to some degree.
Heat inducing shape today and correcting anything that needs to be corrected as that can happen.Mostly tip alignment I figure. This one will take me a while till I get it braced and bending good.Hopefully no ticks or bangs.....lol.Then things will go faster.I'll see what my potential poundage is then too.I thought I'd leave this bows back the way it is.

Clint...It'll be a bit yet.Hope I did'nt put tooooo much reflex after the deflex but we'll see.Tips should only be 2 to 3 inches past handle after mild deflex.I'll need to let the wood rehydrate a while after all that heat.I'd much rather make bows without any heat but then you can't get those nice sweeping lines on those limbs.
