I do the same,3/8 outside and cut them file deep with a 5/32 chain saw file,never mesured it
inside but I guess wit a little figuring I could find out.I guess that would be about 1/16 never
had a problem,but I don't build my bows much over 50lbs.That seem pretty thin,never really
thought about it before.I also never cut across the back unless I overlay the tip.I do that
sometime and sometime I don't.

There really isn't as much presure as you would think.
