I was visiting Santa Fe, driving down the road and saw a lot selling rocks, logs, and fence posts. Asked if they had any juniper (among other species) and this is what I got. 8 ft. log I had to cut in half to fit in the car for $5. Figured it's worth a try for that price.
The bark is pretty messed up so it's really hard to tell. Might be a pine, has a mild piney smell but doesn't smell much like the bold aroma of fresh cut pine. Also theres a bit of weight to the logs, feel heavier than fresh, unseasoned pine.
Whatcha think? Maybe aligator juniper?
