I figure that’s about that.  I’d like to do another one similar about 56” long and come to full draw.  I’ve really enjoyed doing the rawhide work.

Thanks guys.  So I got a new luggage scale for draw weight and it tells me 62#@23”.  My old scale was shot.  I gave the new one a measured test and it’s accurate.

Came out very nice, also the paint job is impressive.
Classy looking hunting weapon with a good drawweight.
Congrats!

Great to see the bow drawn! Awesome looking bend, I would say it doesn't come any better than that! I bet it is a snappy shooter as well.

Very lovely short bow!  Looks very authentic native american style.

Out of curiosity, did you work the back to a ring before sinewing this bow?  If not did you remove or leave any sapwood?

Very nicely done, Steve. Cool little bow.  I like the muted colors and the design.  :OK

Many thanks guys.

240m- you do want to chase a ring still.  I had a minor violation on one several years back, then sinewed it and when I went to tiller...BLAM.  Broke under the sinew.  With the time and effort you will put in, don’t settle.  Garbage in = garbage out. :OK

Parnell, cool to hear you chase a ring first.  I was always told you dont need to if you build up enough sinew.  But i still do it also.

Now once you have it down to one growth ring do you prefer to etch the back with a hack saw blade or something?  Ive been doing this, but at the same i think thats almost kinda semi-violating the entire ring, but at least its even down the entire back.
