Don, remember you asked, With a little practice and some proper tools a good man with a proper fleshing knive will have 3 deer hides done and have half the mess that water leaves , before you get your pressure washer out and hooked up The hide looks great. Not sure if your going to try braintan but that side will need to be done one more time (membraing) before you are all done.  Bob

Takes me five minuets to set up the washer.
Is it finished enough for rawhide?

Morgan I haven't tried that. I was thinking of wood ash and water.

Thanks Jerry.    The shipping coasts wouldn't be as bad as soapstone.
 I have been firing the wood stove for three days now so I am fine.
I think I will do an ash soak and then re apply the pressure to the hair side.
Supposed to only take 3-4 days.

Don, at  $100/ hr. I'll be your Huckleberry Don if you decide to use the ashes here is a little tip, you may already have found. Run your ashes thru a course screen to remove charcoal , makes a much cleaner hide, The pressure washer will remove the hair but I don't think it will touch the grain. Personally I try and remove hair and grain at same time so as to not loose your visual of what is removed and what isn't. Grain by itself is hard to see except for the swelling, and also hard to remove. Grain is WORK , fleshing no matter how you do it is the easy part. Glad to see you're working on some hides, they are very well worth it  when done, Enjoy the ride and, clean enough for rawhide. Bob

Oh BTW do you think re scraping the flesh side after ash soak is ok to make buckskin?
My problem is I don't have a good fleshing tool.
