Hickory "Twig" for Belegarth
« on: April 09, 2017, 12:01:48 pm »
Finally got around to making the bow I'll be using to participate in the "Belegarth Medieval Combat Society."  Per specifications, the bow couldn't be more than 35# at 28", and considering that, the final product has some nice zip to it.  The tiller wound up a little off, with the upper limb a little stiff, but I like the way it shoots, so I'm not complaining too much.  Time to make some padded arrows!

Hickory flatbow, 33# @ 28", tapers from about 1 1/2" at the handle to 3/8" or so at the tip; slight static recurve; hemp cord wrapping on the handle.  Nothing fancy.

Nice looking bow. Too bad you can't flip it so the stronger limb is on the bottom.
