Of course, I can't really say if it mattered with all the work of the drill and sinew prep. The sinew backing probably would have done just as well with none of that spider of sinew business but I was trying to do something "new and unheard of"  ::)

Gonna be away from the PC for a few days so thought I'd give a little start to the madness  :BB

Here's the top 3 I like for this build and trade.
ERC longbow (I think I see a nice section where the string is)
Mulberry billets and mulberry stave. Been hangin on to these for a few years for the right time.

I hope I know who's my vic once I get back  :NN

If it was you, which one would you choose?

ERC and Mulberry are both woods i envy, however that heartwood om the ERC looks awsome. If i was the lucky draw i wouldn't mind either.

I was gifted a hickory stave, an Osage stave, and some cane shoots yesterday. Now I need to decide which I'll use for the trade.

Thanks DBar. It was good meeting you.

That Dbar is a good guy, good on you  Dbar. Part of me really wants to get in this but I just got to much stuff I gotta do first. I'll be watching guys. I'm still sitting on the fence but I'm pretty sure I'm going to pass. I just don't think I'm gonna have the time to give this all I should.

bjrogg,

Sure... you have enough time to play with that shiny new airbrush, but not build a bow.  ::) ;D Six months is a long time. That must be one heck of a honey-do-list you have there.

Extra work doesn't feel like extra work when it's in the bow shop. Plus I wanna see what kind of finish work you can do with your new toy.

That was my attempt to get you to fall off that fence you're sitting on and land on the fun side.

I can really feel you tugging there Dakota. It's tearing me up here. Problem is between real work ,hunny do list, bucket list, and promises from the the bow shop already I can see it getting real hard to get done.

bjrogg, just a thought, but, you could sign on as a reserve, that way, if you wanted to build a bow you could enter it into the reserves and extras random draw at the end of the trade, but, if you didn't get chance then you don't let anyone down

It's okay bjrogg. Only you can decide how much is too much. I'd just hate to see you wishing you would have signed up after we're underway.

Then again, I suppose it would be equally unpleasant to watch you get over-worked, stressed out and have a melt down. It is intended to be an enjoyable experience after all.

Got the yew tree cutting permit approved, so I'm for the day to snowshoe through the timber to find a tree. My victim doesn't have a choice but to receive a yew bow, it's all I have readily available.
Does anyone have preferences? Sapwood on it off?
Dubois, if it were me, I'd say ERC, it's a good lookin wood.
