Sometimes it's nice to be short Clint.😀 You've got way more experience at this than me but I think I'd wrap it by knot and maybe handle.

I don't like wraps but I think one might be in order for that split. I guess that would depend on whether it wants to twist.

I'm gonna stand back and watch.  This is gonna be interesting!  You bit off a big old chunk of grizzly bear with that one and you got some chewing to do, Clint.

Best of luck on this, I really wanna see you pull this one off just for the bragging rights!

Looks very cool Clint,
My buddy holeinthebowchuck probably wont get a good night's sleep until he get's to the classic to see this stave in person.

Maybe trade him a hundred pounds of yeti meat for it😲

It should hold up Clinster with that 12" draw length. Looking forward to seeing this one finished.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

Clint
If you have trouble with it, I can take it down to my camp
and work on it at the classic.

Well, my progress on this bow has been slower than I had hoped for.  I took it to Marshall and started cleaning up the back.  I worked around the smaller knot and quit when I  got to the big heart knot.  Last weekend I went camping and brought the stave with me.  I started cleaning up the remaining knot.  I finished working around it today and got the back to a single ring.  I still need to go down another 2 or 3 rings for the back of the bow.  I estimated around 9 hours so far just in scraping rings.  The stave has some dark red streaks through the wood.   Once I get it down to a single ring I want to cut some thickness off of the limbs and bring it inside the house to loose some moisture.  It will be a good while before I'm ready to start bending it.

A spray shellac can lid will drop right through this knot.

This bowl shaped area was a pain to chase a ring through.

I remember seeing that stave Clint, pertty hard to forget. Maybe it'll be a shooter next time I see it. It certainly will be interesting to watch this one progress.
