Is a string groove on a recurve necessary? Advisable?

it would depend on how wide the limb is,, and how much recurve,, but I think its a good idea on most,,

I agree with Brad. If the belly of the recurve is flat and the string runs perfectly down the center it probably isn't necessary. I always do it just in case. If the string slides off the limb it can reverse the bow and really cause problems.
