I.D. This artifact

This stone came from a creek here in Ky. It's 6" long 2" across 1" through. It's oval in shape with one end broke straight off other end tapers to a blunt end. Can I get some info on it and what it could've been used for. Thanks Paul

I'd say Pestle also, or an unfinished ground ax.

I would agree with the other gentlemen.
I seems to have a nice sheen/polish. From hands
and materials crushed.I find similar mostly un- modified
rocks in almost all native American sites.  Maybe just  a
rock broken to create the flat end.
If the surface is pecked then there is no doubt about a pestle.

Did you find a vessel near the pestle, perhaps a pellet with the poison?
