ooo im dying

Jeez it hurts when you see a beautiful, long, straight hunk of wood that would yield four maybe five bows.. growing in a garden of a highschool xD almost tempting to do a little late night logging  >:D

You spelled dying wrong.

Go ask. Offer to replace it with a prettier tree. The school I work at would probably let you.

In the end, I've always found it better to ask... be it bow wood, hunting permission, mushroom harvesting, fishing, etc. The times I asked on places that I thought for SURE they'd say no, I either got permission, permission to hunt or gather other valuable material, or a lead to other properties or commodities that made the effort more than worthwhile. I ask. The worst they can say is no.

Sometimes they say no.... but...
Straight wood may make a better bow, but crooked wood makes a better bowyer

My morallity when it comes to state property is very low. I pay 38% of my paycheck to the man every month, I pay 1.500$ for owning a car every year, so from my point of view, it's my trees aswell.  8)

Im not far from agreeing with you. But is is also everyone elses, in the care of the school, so, ask the care taker.

I have taken without asking in the past, and I dont feel to great about it. However, if the person to ask was easy to find in a timely mater, I would have.

You're right sleek. In this case getting permission is the right thing to do.
I would actually love to pay for the wood I find. But when I asked the forrest ranger he said that I am not allowed to just take staves, not even dead ones on the ground, and the amount I want to buy is too small to handle in his system.. so he won't let me buy it either.

Thats when you ask him to LOOK OVER THERE! Then take off with a handfull!

Actually, make him a bow and say that if he doeant show up for a few hours that would be appreciated. Probably would work. Then again.... that could be considered bribing a federal officer.

Got it, just say you have this bow and are mighty forgetful. Youd like to be alone for awhile, and anything you forget he can keep when you leave.

That would work I guess. ;D Although I've already installed heating pumps in all his employees house's that should count for something, but they didn't even let me take some stave size oak they'd cut. Maybe the heatpumps will stop working soon  >:D
