Those are really nice Scott, I'm thinking the one with all the colors is the box elder. Kinda gives me a little more respect for it now.

Correcto. Box elder can be some pretty wood, but it's no fun to finish. As you can imagine it's some soft wood.

Wow those are some nice gifts being posted. I'm almost done with the hair on deer skin quiver. Got to do a few finishing touches on it then I got to stuff it with some shooting materials.

Scott I knew that box elder would be nice.I've got a camel lid trunk box lined with red cedar for storage out of box elder. The problem is with the red is that in time it can turn to a more brown color.I just linseed oiled that box for a finish though.Still it's pretty nice looking stuff.Even more so if you can find a way to keep the red swirls red.The other two bowls are  very nice though too.

So this is about it. Yew stave 81", oceanspray stave 55", 14 os shoots, 7 pacific ninebark, 6 Serviceberry, 5 Wild rose, 3 dogwoods and 2 plum shoots all debarked and semi straightened, and two pieces of horn for nocks. I'm sure my guy will put it all to use. Might squeeze something else in the box we'll see. Cheers- Brendan
