first ever post on knapping
« on: April 02, 2016, 01:04:27 am »
I've been knapping and hunting points for 25 years and been lurking around in this section for a few years. I've never posted a picture on here because I mainly knap hunting points.

Thanks to a trade to TRACKER for a elm stave. I got a few rocks. I made a lot of gravel but came out with 50,60 flakes and prefoums another 50 smaller flakes for my son BRIER to learn makeing bird points. At 16 he's perty good at knappinbg when he puts the cotroller down.

The second pic a unfinished osidain points. There around 3/4's the way finished. After I get a bunch 25,30. I'll but them in closer piles, When I fell like finishing them I well. Ill start knapping them closer and closer together. I end up with closely matching points.

Close enough I can't tell  the differance shooting the 15,20 yards.

I'll put some in my turkey pack those late mornings I like to set back finish up a few points waiting for a gobbler to sound off.

If you here a gobbler late morning. If he gobbles by his self at this time. He likely 95% yours. It's as simple as getting in his way and making any hen sound.

I started down that knappen road 25 years ago. I don't have the sickness anymore. Took me couple years (15) and 1000's of points but I'm good now. Each spring I knapp a few heads durning gobbler season. Enough to last me through to next spring.

I just got 50#'s of osidain from TRACKER and had another 30,40#'s of assorted rock. And at least couple 100 flakes and preforms also form assorted rock. I even have some real flint from SWEDEN.

Knapps like butter I had some slaps 15 years ago I make some sweet knives. That was before the knapped knife thing got so big.

I try posting those points I told you that I only finished to around 3/4 done. That I could'nt post last night. Something with my server. LATER

Should've been a condition of the trade, must post pictures of points. Next box of rock I'll write that in the contract haha
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short. Amen.
