Tile work

I got bit bad by the knapping bug.  An hour of work on a floor tile produced a super crude knife full of steps, and lots of scrapes and nicks.

I had an elk antler billet and a short 4" whitetail deer antler tine to work with.  I set it up to use indirect percussion, holding the tine against the top of my thigh with my foot and striking it with the billet after much frustration.

You got some good flakes on that tile....steps are usually a result of not abrading well.

Yeah my thigh was black and blue the next morning.
I'm using a maple stick about 2" diameter and 10" long for my striker.

Also made a couple honey locust billets to work on direct percussion.  Run what ya brung
