Not sure this photo is any better but if you guys are happy that's fine with me cos I am struggling to see anything that won't tidy up when I take out the tool marks
This one is 24" draw

Just a quick question, how close to perfect do you go smoothing off all the tool marks before you do a final heat treatment?

Looking way better stuck....bring it outside in the sunlight and look it over....I usually put on a coat of teak oil right after the heat treating process because at that point it will really soak in to the cell structure of the wood...just a thought-Hammertime

Stuck, that bow looks great. Just out of curiosity, why would you heat treat it? Heat treating can effect the tiller. Are you taking it past the 24" draw?
Congrats hammer! That was a sweet bow, let's see sme more pic!

I would heat treat it. May change things a tad but you should firm it up a bit tempering it.

Glad you like it Hammer!!! Do me a favor and check the draw weight when you get a chance just for my piece of mind. I think that bow has the potential to gain some weight over time as well.

Andrew, tiller is looking good. Looks like you're getting real close to your guys draw and specs. I wouldn't heat treat it unless needed.

Congrats Hammertime. That is a great looking bow you got there and it looks like a great shooter. Another great bow received in this great trade.
Ajooter, you made a great bow.

Got my tiller issues fixed up, didn't take much. It feels like it could still use some breaking in, but I'm at the high end of my guys weight right now 65#. It could just be the extra reflex I'm not that used to. The limbs are half the thickness of my plan A rock elm but twice the draw weight.
I shot a few arrows at 3/4 draw and it's a frikin beast. I'll work the limbs for a couple hours then I'm gonna start putting the makeup on her. I like the decorations I did on the rock elm, so I'll probably just copy them unless some unforeseen inspiration hits. I'll post a few pics when she's ready for the ball.

I've been tied up for several days and just logged on and had quite a few pages to go through to catch up. This has been fun, and even though I have already given and received, I am still enjoying watching the progress. There are some nice bows still being made!
