Wow. Very exciting to see what's being made here.  Seems like this will be a pretty epic trade.

Glad to see you have an open mind enough to realize what this swap is meant to be, and not what a few guys around here think it is.

I think it'll be great to see all of the work, as well.  It's already shaping up to be a great time browsing through all the posts and pics!  It's good to know plenty of people from one trade has expressed interest in the other trades, too.

I have a feeling with 3 trades going on, it'll make looking at the Bow of the Month fun!

Well, I got off my boney arse and started.  ;D  I found a splinter that came off another stave that was too big to throw away or make kindling out of. It's osage, 60" t/t and 3/4" at the widest. It has a couple of layers of sapwood on the back but I haven't decided if I'll leave it on or not. I was thinking about deflexing the handle and sweeping the limbs into reflex from there. If I can keep it stable I don't think I'll have trouble making weight. I'll post a few pics a bit later.

Potential pieces gathered. Some hickory  backing strips in there too but I'll probably go with the Ash. It's a lot more cured.

I dug all the way to the bottom of my private stash and set aside a handful of staves.  After looking them over closely I narrowed it down to these two.  Both have knot holes in them.  One is dark red and was cut sometime in the 90's.  The other came from BlackHawk.  I'm getting ready to cut them to rough bow dimensions and then start chasing a ring.

I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

Simon it's not that I'm in a hurry so much as its a point that all my higher priority projects are in my truck...which is broke down again in a shop out on the road and I just came home.  So I started on this to keep out of the house and away from daycare diaper duty.  Now that's a crappy job!  Anyway here's the first candidate.  A pair of yew billets that Ryan sent me.  They're about 20 to 30 rpi and have just a little wiggle to them.  Initially I planned to straighten them out, but decided the bow should reflect the bowyer somewhat so I left it a little bent and twisted.  I have the sleeves fitting nicely, but not glued in and I'm getting close to floor tiller.  Here's the progress so far.  Josh

James, as old as he is the closest he got to Dobie Gillis is Gilligan's Island.

I'm having a hard time deciding what to go with. I have a nice piece of Cascara and a piece of Hackberry and of course, Osage. I've never worked Hackberry or Cascara, might just try something different.
